1. General Meetings, Board Meetings, etc.

(1) The 1st Board Meeting and General Meeting, Lecture Presentations

Details We approved the FY 2011 Business Report and Income/Expenditure Report, and we deliberated on the FY 2012 Business Plan and Income/Expenditure Budget. Also, in tribute to the 35th anniversary of our sister city affiliation with Mexico City, we showed videos related to Mexico and held a lecture presentation by Ohkagakuen University Professor Bustos Nazario.

(2) The 2nd Board Meeting

Details We deliberated on the outline of the FY 2013 Business Plan and Income/Expenditure Budget Proposal, and reported on the Commemorative Project for the 35th Anniversary of the Nagoya-Mexico City Sister City Affiliation.

2. Commemorative Project for the 35th Anniversary of the Nagoya-Mexico City Sister City Affiliation

(1) Mexico Photo Exhibition

Details We introduced our residents to photos of Mexico offered by Mexico City Hall with an exhibition entitled "Mexico Photo Exhibition: Sensing the Modernity of the People, Cities, and Beauty of Mexico." At the same time, we held the photo exhibition "The Mayan Civilization: A Space of Memories" with cooperation from the Mexican Embassy, which displayed the magnificence of Mexico's ancient and modern culture.

Details At the panel exhibition "Mesoamerica" sponsored by JICA Chubu, we displayed photos of Mexico offered by Mexico City Hall and displayed the magnificence of Mexico to visitors.

(2) Hosting teachers from the Japan-Mexico Academy (Liceo Mexicano Japonés)

Details We hosted teachers from the Japan-Mexico Academy at Aichi Elementary School, and conducted experiential orientation on classes and events at Japanese elementary schools. By introducing Mexico City to our students and other exchange events, we were able to deepen mutual understanding between Mexico City and Nagoya.

(3) Hosting students from the Japan-Mexico Academy (Liceo Mexicano Japonés)

Details We hosted students from the Japan-Mexico Academy through a homestay program, and additionally gave them a chance to experience student life at the Nagoya Commercial High School. Through such activities, we were able to deepen mutual understanding between the students from Mexico City and Nagoya.

(4) Japan-Mexico Academy (Liceo Mexicano Japonés) Welcome & Exchange Party

Details When visitors from the Japan-Mexico Academy (26 students, 4 counselors) came to Nagoya, we conducted a courtesy call to City Hall, gave them a tour of the city, and threw a welcome & exchange party. At the exchange party, Seiryo High School dance club members gave a performance, and the students from the Japan-Mexico Academy also gave us a taste of Mexican folk dance. Through such activities, we were able to deepen our mutual understanding and friendship.

(5) Dispatch of a Nagoya Citizens Goodwill Mission

Details The City dispatched a Nagoya Citizens Goodwill Mission, which participated in a variety of official events on behalf of the citizens of Nagoya, including the Nagoya Photo Exhibition Opening Reception, Sister Zoo Affiliation Signing, Nagoya Garden Opening, Memorial Reception, and Nagoya Day. In Cancun, the Nagoya Citizens Goodwill Mission also participated in Mexican cooking lessons.

(6) Nagoya Day

Details Besides offering samples of Nagoya cuisine and showing films about Nagoya to Mexico City residents, there were also performances on stage by the Nagoya Samurai Warrior Group and songs by the Nagoya Citizens Goodwill Mission. The Nagoya Citizens Goodwill Mission deepened exchange with Mexico City residents by additionally giving demonstrations of calligraphy, origami, and other elements of Japanese culture.

(7) 35th Anniversary of Nagoya-Mexico City Sister City Affiliation Gift Presentation Ceremony and Commemorative Lecture

Details In commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Nagoya-Mexico City Sister City Affiliation, a gift presentation ceremony was held during which the "Stone of the Four Suns" was presented to Nagoya by Mexico City. A commemorative lecture was given by José Bernal Stoopen, General Director of Zoological Parks and Wildlife, Mexico City.

(8)Sister City Festival 2012

Details We held stage events featuring our sister cities, centered on a fashion show presenting Mexican native dress and performances by the Los Angeles Nisei Week Queen and Court. We also set up booths introducing our sister cities, including a Mexican photo exhibition.

(9) Commemorative Mexican Cultural Exchange Party in Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Nagoya-Mexico City Sister City Affiliation

Details To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Nagoya-Mexico City Sister City Affiliation, we invited Mexico-born Chamu-Arias Coral, Nagoya International Center's world language master, and additionally held a Mexican cultural exchange event to demonstrate Mexican culture.

Details We held a Sister and Friendship Cities Goodwill Missions Welcome Reception to welcome the Sister and Friendship Cities Goodwill Missions who came to Japan for the Nagoya Festival and Sister City Festival 2012.

(1) 34th Sister and Friendship Cities Children's Art Exhibition (held together with the Nagoya City Board of Education)

Details Together with the Nagoya City Board of Education, we conducted an exchange and exhibition of children's art with our sister and friendship cities. We also presented a panel that introduced summaries of our sister and friendship cities, thereby deepening our residents' understanding toward our sister and friendship cities.

(2) Christmas Party (held together with the Nagoya Japan-Australia-New Zealand Society)

(4) Chinese Cooking Class in Celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the Nagoya-Nanjing Friendship City Affiliation

Details We held Chinese cooking classes to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Nagoya-Nanjing Friendship City Affiliation. By cooking real Chinese cuisine, we were able to cultivate an understanding toward China.

(5) Operation of the Nagoya Sister Cities Association Website

Details We have been doing PR and activity reports on the various projects that the Nagoya Sister Cities Association has been conducting.
